The Tampa Bay Singles Golf Association!

The Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association (ASGA) is a golf organization dedicated to getting single people together both on and off the course! Tampa Bay members range in ages from 40 - 80 years with the majority being in their 50's and 60's. Most members have handicaps ranging from 10 to 40. Golf tournaments are held twice a month on weekends at different courses throughout the bay area and social activities are planned on a regular basis.

  • June ASGA Golf Newsletter by Golf Co-Chair – Sharon Leavitt

The month of June brought two outings… The first was on Saturday, June 5th with a shotgun start at Seminole Golf Club with 21 ASGA golfers. According to Sarah Brown it was a fantastic course and a ton of fun was had by all.
The longest putt was won by Nathan Pearlman, Dave Chess won closest to the pin for men. No women made it. 50/50 winners were Dave Cress and Rich Kreger. Linda Floyd won the drawing for the free golf coupon back at Seminole.
Our next outing in the month of June was on Saturday June 19th at Saddlebrook Resort. We played the signature Saddlebrook course which was in good condition. We had narrow fairways and plenty of water to make the course exciting. Sixteen golfers showed up for the early tee time of 9.30am.

We had NO winners for closest to the pin and the longest putt, so we had several 50/50 drawings. Winners of $10 each were: Dave Chess, Sandra Sternal, Linda Floyd, Sarah Brown and Sharon Leavitt.

Our outings for the month of July are as follows: World Woods – Rolling Oaks with a 9.30am start.
Cost is $32 + tax, NO range balls. Saturday July 31 is Fox Hollow up in beautiful Trinity. Cost for this one is $54.95 and does include range balls. Tee times start at 10.05.

We are into the summer months with lots of heat and rain, but we are working on getting earlier tee times to beat the monstrous afternoon heat. Be sure to sign up on Meetup.com or reply to any emails that I send out.
  • July Newsletter

Hello fellow golfers. Hope everyone had a good July 4th weekend. A group of us are got together to watch the fireworks on the 4th. Always good to spend time with friends.
The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup again. An amazing feat to win back-to-back championships. The Buc’s are one of the favored teams to reach the Super Bowl again and the Rays are currently in 2nd place in the AL East. The new nickname for Tampa Bay is Champa Bay. Our sports teams are rocking it.
Things are quiet with our chapter. Many of our members have headed north for cooler weather. Those of us who have stayed in the Tampa Bay area have been experiencing rainy and humid days. The rain is good for the fairways, but it will also mean more than normal cart path-only holes. Hurricane Elsa is threatening as I write, let’s hope it is nothing more than a rain event in our area.
The color for shirts has been decided for the Florida Cup. Red, which is my favorite color. Please refer to Edie’s email on sizing and price. There may be some wild-looking shorts walking around at the Florida Cup. There has been a double dare challenge put out there.
Reminder that the Christmas Party is scheduled for December 11th. Looking forward to a good time. RSVP on meetup if you haven’t already.
Safe travels to those on the road this summer and to those of us at home – keep safe.
