A few upcoming events

Golf events are planned throughout the Tampa Bay area twice a month. Since our members live in several counties we do our best to accommodate everyone, but once in a while you may have to drive an hour to get to the course. Most of the time we just play our own ball, but other times we’ll have a Scramble or Shamble, or some other type of game/competition. We always have contests within the game such as Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt, Straightest Drive, etc. Prize money is given out to our winners and as such, we ask you to contribute $5 to the prize fund.

We also do a 50/50 drawing at each event where you can purchase tickets for $1, or get 6 for $5.
If you are not yet a member of ASGA, we invite you to attend two events before joining our organization. Please click on the About Us page for more information about the organization. Check back here often for future golf outings!
It is highly recommended that you join our Meetup site at no charge, and then you will automatically receive notifications when a new event is posted. This is also the easiest way to RSVP to an event.

Joke of the Month

The Montana State Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising golfers to take extra precautions and be on the alert for bears while playing on Gallatin, Helena, and Lewis and Clark National Forest’s golf courses.

They advise golfers to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert, but not to startle the bears unexpectedly.

They also advise golfers to carry pepper spray in the case of an encounter with a bear.

They say that it’s also a good idea to watch for signs of bear activity on the courses. They recommend that golfers be educated so that they can recognize the difference between Black bear and Grizzly bear droppings.

Black bear droppings are smaller and contain remains of nuts, berries, and possibly squirrel, rabbit or gopher fur.

Grizzly bear droppings have small bells, golf gloves, sunglasses, and other similar golf items in them and they usually smell like pepper spray.
